TYY membership fee increases by €4 for next autumn
In addition to the new Executive Board, there were a couple of other decisions made at the Student Union Council December meeting. The Executive Board proposal for the 2009 plan of action and budget was approved with minor changes, the most significant concerning next year’s membership fees. The Executive Board and Financial Board proposed that there should be an increase of €6.50 and the council electoral group TYY terveeksi proposed a €4.00 increase.
With a vote in favour of the proposal given by TYY terveeksi, the Student Union Council decided on the increase which will make the membership fee €89 for academic year 2009-2010. The membership fee will include €40 for health care (which includes a €2.00 increase) and a National Union of University Students in Finland membership fee of €4.80 (which includes a €0.40 increase). The membership fee for postgraduate students, which will not include FSHS services, will be €35.
The Student Union Council selected new members for the TYY committees and directorates. Also, changes in the TYY regulations which concern the selection of the TYY committee members were approved a second time. Furthermore, the Student Union Council decided to make a change in the staff regulations and terminate the Turku Student Newspaper clerical officer position.
Substantial donation given to TYY Library
TYY Library received a private donation of approximately 180 books mainly in mathematics, physics and data processing. There were also quite a few used University of Turku course books as well as plenty of applicable books for advanced studies. Students will be able to use the books from the donation during January 2009.
