Nominate a Course of the Year 2010
COURSE OF THE YEAR 2010
Have you attended an inspiring course or an excellent series of lectures in your faculty or department this year? Now you can nominate that course for the Course of the Year 2010!
The Student Union and the University of Turku are looking for propositions for the Course of the Year 2010. This year the emphasis is on international courses. Two students at minimum can propose a course worth awarding. In addition, the employees of faculties and institutes, as well as subject-oriented departmental and faculty organisations can make these propositions. The chance of the teacher to be elected is increased if students and staff make the proposition together. The winner is chosen by the Rector of the University of Turku and the Chairperson of the Executive Board of the Student Union.
By choosing the course of the year, the Student Union and the University want to highlight good practices or inspiring methods in a single course, lecture, or seminar, and by doing so, encourage others to improve the quality of courses in the University. The nominated course can be a small set of lectures of few credits. It can also be a larger seminar or an entity consisting of many parts. All in all, we are looking for a course that is inspiring and informative both to the student and the teacher. In a good course, there should also be some means of collecting and using feedback to improve the course for the future. There can also be other grounds beside these.
All suggestions should be sent to the Student Union by Friday, 6 August. You can send your proposition by e-mail to the address: tyy-koposihteeri@utu.fi or bring it to the office of the Student Union (Rehtoripellonkatu 4A, 1st floor), mark the envelope as “Course of the Year 2010”.
We hope to get many good propositions from all the fields of study in the University! The Teacher of the Year and the Course of the Year 2010 will be announced in the opening carnival of the Student Union on Thursday, 2 September.
