Painting began on Thursday 29 June and is due to be completed on Sunday 9 July.
The mural on the northern exterior wall of Student House A is being created by artist Topi Ruotsalainen (b. 1979 in Kuopio). To produce it, the Student Union has partnered with Helsinki Urban Art, whose aim is to bring more art to urban landscapes. The mural portrays student life from the past one hundred years.
The Student Union of the University of Turku is responsible for the mural and pays for it. The project has been planned in cooperation with the Turku Student Village Foundation. The Turku building control authority has granted a legally valid permission for the project.
The painting work does not interfere with traffic or extend to neighbouring plots.
