Linocut workshop

On Sunday, November 17th from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, and Saturday, November 23th from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM.

Linocut is a relief printing technique where an image is carved onto a linoleum plate or, more commonly today, a softer rubber-like plate, and then printed onto paper. The carved-out areas remain the color of the background in the print, typically white, while the ink applied to the uncut surface transfers to the paper.

Special linocut carving tools and a craft knife are used for carving. The printing process involves rolling relief ink onto the plate and transferring the ink from the plate to the paper by rubbing.
During the workshop day, participants will learn the basics of linocut, a bit about the colors used, handling the tools, the possibilities of lino, and art printmaking in general.

There will be two linocut workshops, with a maximum of ten participants per session, giving about 20 people the chance to try out this technique. Additionally, participants can continue working on their projects on other days when the workshop space is not in use.

A material fee of 2–5 euros will be collected from participants to cover part of the workshop material costs.
