The Board of the National Union of University Students in Finland (SYL) for 2024 will be elected at the General Assembly on 17–18 November 2023. Six members and the President will be elected. Being a Board member is full-time work and requires you to live in the Helsinki area. Delegates elected by the student unions will vote on the Board at the General Assembly.
What is the National Union of University Students in Finland?
SYL, i.e. the National Union of University Students in Finland, is a student organisation which represents approximately 140,000 students in Finland. All student unions in Finnish universities are members of SYL. SYL promotes students’ interests and speaks for the younger generation in society. SYL is present where student issues are discussed, from the parliament to barricades.
Would you be TYY's candidate?
TYY decides on its possible candidates for the SYL Board in the Student Union Council meeting on 13 September 2023 in Rauma. In the meeting, members of Council groups can propose individuals as TYY's candidates for the SYL Board. If you are interested in running for the SYL Board, contact a Council group of your choice by 30 August. To be TYY's candidate, you need to be a TYY member, i.e. you must be a student and have paid the TYY membership fee. You can find the contact information for Council group chairpersons here.
