Recruitment for TYY's Wings for the 2024-2025 Academic Year
The Student Union of the University of Turku (TYY) is seeking members for the core team of its volunteer group, known as TYY's Wings. TYY's Wings is a volunteer group that operates around four different themes. In the Wings, there is freedom to create new activities, shape the event culture of the student union, and advocate for students' interests at the university and in society. The core team of the Wings leads the group's activities and selects its chairperson from among its members.
The themes TYY's Wings work on are: Internationality, Development Cooperation, Equality, and Environment.
Development Cooperation
- Plans and implements TYY's development cooperation projects in collaboration with TYY's development cooperation sector.
- Promotes the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals within the student union.
- Organizes development cooperation events and activities, including TYY's Sustainable Development Week.
Environment
- Promotes environmentally friendly practices among organizations, students, the student union, the university, and the surrounding society.
- Educates organizations on environmental matters.
- Organizes the Clean Spring Campaign (SiistiVappu) in the spring.
- Monitors the implementation of TYY's environmental program and updates the environmental program and guide as needed.
Equality
- Promotes the realization of equality, equity, and accessibility within the student union and the university, highlighting the diversity of students.
- Organizes events related to equality.
- Sparks discussions and informs about current issues related to equality, accessibility, and inclusivity.
Internationality
- Promotes internationality, interculturality, and multiculturalism on campus.
- Collaborates with TYY's organizations and potentially other international organizations to organize events that advance the goals of the Wings.
We are seeking core team members for the Wings, who will choose the chairperson and agree on other responsibilities among themselves. We expect applicants to be motivated and enthusiastic about the role, as well as capable of working in a team.
Students from the Pori and Rauma campuses can also apply to join the Wings. The application period opens on September 2nd and closes on September 30th at 23:59. Applications should be submitted through the form available on TYY's website. TYY's board will review the applications and select the official members of the Wings at its meeting. A training session for new members of the Wings will be held on Thursday, October 10th, from 16:00 to 18:30 in the Turku Hall.
