De Gallo Qui Ovavit is a short documentary that explores the mythical history of egg laying roosters and invites into an ironic play to search and debunk boundaries between genders, species and eras. An egg laying rooster is a phenomenon that has disturbed human mind ever since and in different eras these roosters have been classified as lethal monsters, satanic criminals or biological freaks. But which one came first, the monster or the human?

After the film screening, literary researcher and rooster enthusiast Helinä Ääri interviews Nina Forsman, who wrote and directed the film. The interview is in Finnish. The public is also welcome to participate in the discussion.

The event is part of Turku's academic animal rights society's Perspectives on animal relations - Nummi as an intermediate space for art and research.
