Apply to the Board of Centre for Language and Communication Studies

TYY seeks two members and two deputy members to the Board of Centre for Language and Communication Studies (CeLCS) for the term of 2025 – 2028.

The Centre for Language and Communication Studies (CeLCS) is an independent unit of the University of Turku responsible for the language, communication and intercultural skills teaching of most faculties. The remit of the Board of CeLCS is to develop and evaluate the activities of the Centre, approve the guidelines and the annual and long-term action plans of the Centre, make motions and suggestions on the development on the activities and decide on the use of resources of the Centre. Students have two member positions and two deputy member positions in the Board of CeLCS. In addition to student representation, the Board of CeLCS has representatives of all the faculties. 

Application period for the members and deputy members of the Board of CeLCS will begin on Monday 16th of Dec. One may stand as a candidate for the membership by filling an electronic form found at TYY website (www.tyy.fi) by Tuesday 31st of Dec 2024 at 23.59. The Specialist for Academic Affairs will draft a proposal for TYY Executive Board on the elected. TYY Executive Board will make the decision on student representatives in January.

In the election of student representatives to the Board of CeLCS, attention will be paid, for example, on previous experience from associations, from the administration of higher education institutions and from interest promotion, on motivation and commitment to the task, on balanced representation of faculties, departments and programs, and balanced gender distribution in the organ.

According to TYY’s regulation, people with the right to complete a lower university degree, higher university degree, licentiate or doctoral degree, specialist degree in medicine or degree in dental science in the University of Turku are eligible for application. The eligible applicant must also be registered present in the university. Those with a full-time employment with the university are not eligible, as defined in the election rules of the University of Turku.

According to TYY’s Regulation on the election of student representatives, the number of posts of student representatives in the administration is limited to three posts per person. This entry is intended to ensure balanced distribution of the posts of student representatives in the administration.
